Step up… Step Up… Introduce yo’ self!

Many thanks to Dr. Fort for kicking this blog off, but I’m going to step in here and take over for a little bit.  Clearly, we’re both pretty new at this and you’re going to have to bear with us while we get this all figure out.  What we don’t know in terms of blogging, we’ll make up for in dentistry.  Given that some may know me well, some just a little bit, and some honestly, not at all, I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about me, my family, and a glimpse into what I think dentistry and a dental practice should be.

I was born and raised here in Owensboro, went to Owensboro High School, attended Centre College and then UofL School of Dentistry.  My father had a practice here, and I had the privilege of working alongside him for about 13 years.  In 2014, I married my wife, Natalie, who I went to preschool, elementary, middle and high school with… although we never dated until we were both out of college.  We have two beautiful kids together, Graham (3) and Edie (7 months).  So, if I seem a little worn out when I see any of you, you’ll know why.

Once my father hung up his drill, I made the move to join in with Dr. Fort in 2019.  COVID aside, it’s really been a pretty smooth transition, and worked out really well for everyone.  Part of that is we have  a very similar practice philosophy.  Number one, is that we don’t want this to feel like a dental office.  It’s more of a place to talk with a friend who you haven’t seen in a while, catch up on work and family, and long the way, you’ve gotten your teeth cleaned or a filling done.

Just because we want the patient to feel like a person, doesn’t mean you’re not going to get the best technology or treatment possible.  I can definitely “nerd out” on some new dental procedure or equipment that makes things easier for both myself, and you, the patient.  CEREC, Invisalign, 3D printers…. I want to know all about how to make things better for you, and we love playing with new toys, It is Christmas time after all!!  If you’re not sure what those are, don’t worry, I bet they’ll be covered in a later blog.

I feel like we’ve created a family over here, and we want you to feel like you’re a part of it too.  I want you to have the best, quality dental care, while in an environment that’s comfortable enough to make you think you’re not really in a dental office.  Let us know if there’s any topic you’d like for us to discuss in the future, otherwise you’re stuck with what we want to talk about (Just send us a message on our Facebook Page.).  And trust me, neither Dr. Fort or myself have ANY problems with talking.  See you soon!
